Healing Concept

Healing Concept

  • Healing is an evolving process with many stages. Much of it is based on a relationship between those in pain and the community that support them. Healing begins with an informing process that allows for interactive conversations to begin between people without risking safety and trust that has not been established. Information is valuable. However, the primary magic of healing is found woven into the relationships that are created between the individuals who share information together. It’s not the information itself; it’s the connection with another. Healing is often broken up into parts in our science-based world. Sickness is diagnosed and ailments are separately treated. But this only works well for temporary repairs of physical ailments, and does little for those distressed with underlying emotional and spiritual constitutions. It has been known over the ages that a communal process is what resources health and vitality. This starts with a conversation that becomes understanding. Understanding generates meaningfulness, and meaning is what shapes trust. And trust is what creates safety for all involved. The emergence of a communal trust allows for individual healing to happen.

  • Every society is run, not by its science, but rather by its myths. The primary places where cultural mythologies are held are within our religious institutions, satisfying our need to be – not just mindful, but soulful. At this level of spiritual connection, communities make decisions about right and wrong based on how we support each other’s values and beliefs; both good and bad. Thus, to change how a society deals with child abuse means going deep into the bellies of our churches and address the darkness as part of our worship. To heal this dark human condition, we must not separate it from our prayer. With this commitment, we gain the power to transform the horrors of abuse into Sacred Acts of Healing. Project Cross Point has chosen to tend to abuse inside Catholic parishes for this reason. It is here where we can transform the gravity of a child’s darkness into a blessing of grace and light. Through this work, each member of the community creates a deeper relationship with Spirit.

  • Healing a community involved with child abuse depends upon those within it who have run the gauntlet of personal transformation for themselves, as they understand how communal support is a crucial part of any one individual’s healing. Thus, foundational for achieving a sustained healing process, is providing a supportive network of people who have an integrated set of skills (head), compassion (heart), and strength (gut), to carry those stepping into the healing process, through their personal labyrinth of wounding. Access to a healing network makes their burdens that come with healing more bearable and helps accelerate a person’s ability to move beyond the mental emotional chains that abuse creates. As well, healing is ‘reflective’ meaning that the support given by anyone within the community to those in need, mirrors itself throughout the overall social fabric, making the group more resilient to future issues of abuse. Communal support dramatically minimizes abuse recurrence and increases the rate of healing for the person(s) having to go through it. The PCP Healing Support Network is under early development. Presently we have a couple dozen supporters within the network and is growing quickly. Although it is mostly based in MN where the pilot project is well underway, the network is quickly becoming national and global. We ask that you consider for yourself – should you be a part of this network? Cross Points Toward Healing

Transforming Personal Wounding into Communal Gifts

Four Poems That Express The Journey

Revelation is an awe-inspiring awareness of something. It may not necessarily be a joyful experience, at least to begin with. It can  also be horrifying. Doing the work of transmuting our Wounds into Gifts begins with a revealing moment, but often starts with fear and shock. Difficult to be with ourselves, we often become isolated and afraid within a world that does not know how to support our pain. This first cross point can be the greatest challenge along our healing journey. But hang on. Know that your new awareness is a powerful insight. You will revel in it later down the path. It is setting the healing tone for your mind, body, and soul.
